The human mind is powerful. We can learn to proactively choose what to focus on to improve our health and sense of well being. A recent news report told of a group of twelve boys on a soccer team being trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand for over 2 weeks. Their coach, who is said to be a “former novice Buddhist monk,” lead the boys through meditation to help them endure the difficult and stressful experience. Read about it in the links below:

Certainly, there are times in all of our lives when we feel trapped or in peril. The ability to find inner calm regardless of outward circumstances is a vital life skill, particularly for children already showing signs of emotional distress. I have had the wonderful opportunity to learn pediatric self-hypnosis (a cousin to meditation and guided-imagery) to help children deal with difficult situations, such as upcoming major surgery, severe chronic illness, school stress, and the ups-and-downs of everyday. It is amazing what kids can accomplish with the powerful tool of imagination!
If your child could benefit from learning some lifelong coping strategies, I’d be happy to meet with you!
